I'm almost finished with my next essay for my writing blog, it is a categories essay entitled "On The Integration Of Electronics." Look for it Friday.
This afternoon I was able to attend a friend's official signing for college football. He made it into the news this afternoon, I'm really glad for him. He's had an uphill struggle to realize his football dream; being home-schooled for several years and then attending a small, private school throughout high school put him at a "disadvantage" for making it onto a college team. Through it all, he's shown a lot of team spirit, helping to train most of the freshmen that comprised his team during his senior year. But where the Lord wills there's a way, and so he's now on a great college football team! Yahoo!
Tonight we were able to attend the prayer meeting down south for our church. I can't count the number of times in the last two weeks that I've thanked the Lord for providing this area of fellowship with other believers in my life. It's hard when there is something missing from your life and you can't put your finger on it, but it is really, really hard when you know what's missing and yet you can't do anything about it. But the Lord knows and has provided amply, Wednesday night's are now one of the highlights of my week. One of my favorite passages in Scripture is the last paragraph in Acts 2, the closeness and unity of the body of Christ that is described in those verses has always been amazing to me. I've often heard of groups of believers today that maintain fellowship approaching that of Acts, but I've never witnessed it. This group has given me the chance to not only witness it, but to be a part of it. Perhaps later on in life the Lord will increase the frequency of such times, but for right now I'm perfectly content. Also, I talked with the elder/host who leads the prayer time right now and he said I would be able to add songs to our time as a group. I'll be doing music by Indellible Grace, they're my favorite band and the people at this church are slightly familiar with them as well as really like their music. So I'm looking forward to next week, this will be the first time playing for a group outside of my family. I'll be making at least a dozen song books (~35 people, including like 25 kids) to spread out for everyone. To spread the book-making out, we'll probably just do a couple new songs each week or every other week, so I don't have to put everything together at once. It should be a lot of fun!
Things I'm thankful for tonight: 1) our prayer group, 2) slow but sure progress on our house, 3) a chance to play guitar for a group, 4) twenty-three blog views today!, and 5) the return of female robins signaling the approach of spring.
Today's joke:
Teacher: "Zach, you need to work on learning the presidents. When I was your age, I could name all of them."
Zach: "Yes, but then there were only four or five."

ReplyDeletealthough i'm struggling with the church move i can honestly say i to love prayer group! and i'm excited about those songs :) i love singing! i experience that unity at the other homegroup i go to also, you can just feel the Spirit of Christ on the group, blessing their desire to be in the Word. I think it has something also to do with the home atmosphere, because you get closer and know those people eventually almost as well as your relatives!
Keep up blogging :D you'll get more followers!
