In The Groove

Today it is finally beginning to happen, my body is adjusting to my new sleep schedule! I was on a lazy vacation for a little while after Christmas, so coming home and getting back in sync with life has been a bit of an adjustment. The first day was not too bad, but rising and shining got steadily harder each morning until today. My body has now set its internal alarm clock and it was actually quite easy to get going. Yes!

Finished reading through 1 Corinthians this morning. During vacation I decided to start reading through the New Testament -- beginning with the book of Acts because I usually never make it through all of the Gospels after trying to read much of the same thing four times over. I guess I should spread them out in between the epistles. I finished on vacation, 1 Corinthians this week, and will start 2 Corinthians tomorrow.
Normal schedules don't begin until next week for the rest of the family, so they're still as fast as slugs crawling off a leaf where getting out of bed is concerned. Fixed three scrambled eggs, three bacon, two toast, and apple water for breakfast. Both the menu and the early morning quietness reminded me of house sitting, that was a common breakfast for me, if doubled, since it stuck to my gut while hard at work during the day. I seem to have fairly limited diets when I'm housesitting, the time before that I found myself eating lasagna and cocoa pebbles for breakfast because I didn't want to leave any of my requested lasagna behind!
Later in the morning I took off with some of the family in my at-the-time-very-cramped compact truck to the local lumber yard to pick up building supplies for a new construction project at our house. That makes a great tongue twister, say "yard" ten times, then say "local lumber yard" three times fast! Anyway, at the moment, if you just walk through the door and look around, you'd probably be more apt to call it a destruction project! Please excuse our progress :)
I'm nearly finished with a DVD slideshow project I'm producing created with pics from our vacation. At something like an hour long slideshow, broken down into eight or nine chapters, it is the largest project I've undertaken to date. I'm using Cyberlink PowerDirector 10 Ultra to create it (no I don't work for them), and it is phenomenal; I've thoroughly enjoyed using the program. This project has been good for me since the volume of media that I've been using PowerDirector to put together has prodded me towards streamlining my production process and towards becoming much more expert with the program (I've only had it for a couple months now).
My New Year's resolution is coming along great! I challenged a guy at our church to see if we both memorize the book of 1 Peter (5 chapters, 105 verses) before this summer is over. I did the math and that means something like one verse every other day or maybe four a week to finish by mid-July. I missed four or five days on vacation, but I caught up with five verses between lunch yesterday and dinner today, so now I'm on verse 13. Didn't know I could do that, so I might be setting a more challenging goal for myself if I can keep up the pace.
Last night was the first night back at the Bible study I lead (see Revelation blog). I came back really feeling convicted that I need to spend more time preparing the lessons and just thinking and praying over them and for the young men that attend as well. I think this week will be at least a small step in the right direction as I'm now expanding my study resources and scheduling daily time for study. In fact, that's what I'm about to start working on right now....
